Court Interpreters for the Clark County Courts in Vancouver

Clark County Superior Court is at 1200 Franklin Street and Clark County District Court at 210 East 13th Street, both downtown. One office schedules interpreters for all of them: the District Court’s interpreter coordinator, working under RCW 2.43 and 2.42. The Columbian reported in December 2024 that the county had contracted with more than 100 interpreters that year, up from about 75, covering more than 40 languages, with some days needing 15 languages on the schedule.

Chuukese and Samoan Interpreters in Vancouver

Chuukese, a Micronesian language, comes right after Spanish in the county’s list of most common court interpreter needs, and on some days those two are the only languages on the schedule. Evergreen Public Schools lists it among its common home languages too. A Chuukese interpreter is booked in person where one is available locally and by video otherwise; tell us which island the speaker is from, since speech varies between the lagoon and the outer atolls.

Samoan is harder still. The county’s coordinator told The Columbian there were three registered Samoan court interpreters in the whole state. For a deposition or a hospital appointment, a Samoan interpreter by video from elsewhere in the network is often the realistic answer, and Chuukese translation or Samoan translation of a short statement can be done in writing.

Russian and Ukrainian Translation in Vancouver

The closest immigration court is across the river too, at 1220 SW Third Avenue in Portland, while the detained docket at the Northwest ICE Processing Center is heard in Tacoma.

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, founded in 1858 by Mother Joseph Pariseau and described as the oldest hospital in the Pacific Northwest, is a 450-bed Level II trauma center on Mother Joseph Place. Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, opened in 2005, belongs to Portland-based Legacy Health. Both provide language services for their own patients.
