Prism Language Solutions supports Memphis clients with certified translation for any address in the city and with court, immigration, medical and business interpreters from its nationwide network, working in person in the Mid-South or by phone and video. Spanish is most of the demand, from Mexican, Honduran and Guatemalan families above all, with Arabic and Vietnamese next. Memphis has no Prism branch; we work from one office in New York and send a fixed written quote within 60 minutes in business hours.
Memphis’s Spanish-speaking population is more Central American than most visitors expect. The 2020-2024 American Community Survey counts 48,116 Spanish speakers aged five and over, about 8.4 percent of that age group. Of the city’s 47,615 residents born abroad, Mexico accounts for 13,992, Honduras for 6,698 and Guatemala for 4,232, with Venezuela (2,550) and El Salvador (1,479) behind them. The rest of the list is short but specific: Vietnam (1,449), India (1,747), China, Bangladesh, Yemen and Egypt. Arabic, with 2,137 home speakers, and Vietnamese, with 1,951, are the largest languages after Spanish, so those are the interpreters Memphis bookings reach for next.

Immigration Court and USCIS Translation at 80 Monroe Avenue
Memphis is one of the few cities where the immigration court and the USCIS field office share a building. The Memphis Immigration Court is on the lower level of 80 Monroe Avenue, Suite G-10, and the USCIS ZIP code file lists the Memphis Field Office on the seventh floor of the same address. That office serves West Tennessee, northern Mississippi and much of eastern Arkansas. Affirmative asylum claims from Tennessee are decided by the New Orleans Asylum Office, which sits in Metairie, Louisiana.
A USCIS filing needs a complete English translation of every foreign document, with the translator certifying competence and accuracy under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), and attorneys want the same standard for evidence going to the court downstairs. Honduran civil records are a Memphis staple, and we translate the whole certificate, registry codes and annotations included. See USCIS translation, translation for immigration attorneys and police clearance translation.
Court Interpreters at 201 Poplar and the Shelby County Courthouse
Criminal cases in Shelby County are heard at the Criminal Justice Center, 201 Poplar Avenue, with General Sessions criminal courts mostly on the lower level and the felony courts upstairs. Civil courts sit in the historic courthouse at 140 Adams Avenue. Federal cases for the Western District of Tennessee are heard at the Odell Horton Federal Building, 167 North Main Street.
Courts arrange interpreters for their own hearings. Defense attorneys, public defenders and civil litigators book us for jail interviews, depositions, witness preparation and the translation of statements, text messages and foreign records. See court interpreting and legal translation.
Spanish Translation for Honduran and Guatemalan Clients in Memphis
Most of our Memphis Spanish translation is Mexican and Central American paperwork: birth and marriage certificates, school records, police certificates and court judgments. Registry terms differ between Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala, so we ask for the issuing country and assign a translator who knows its records.
A Spanish interpreter covers most hearings and appointments. With more than 4,000 Guatemalan-born residents, ask the client before the date is set whether they want Spanish or a Mayan language. For a Mam speaker we book a Mam interpreter, usually by video, and we cover Q’anjob’al and Kaqchikel the same way.
Medical Interpreters for Regional One Health and St. Jude
Regional One Health’s Elvis Presley Trauma Center is the only designated Level 1 trauma center within 150 miles of Memphis, taking patients from Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital keeps on-site interpreters for Spanish and French and uses video and telephone interpreting for other languages.
Hospitals interpret for their own patients under 45 CFR 92.201. We are called in by clinics, rehabilitation providers, insurers and families for long or sensitive sessions, and to translate medical records from abroad so a specialist in Memphis can read the history. See medical interpreting and medical records translation.
Arabic and Vietnamese Interpreters in Memphis
Arabic is Memphis’s second largest non-English language, and Yemen and Egypt are among the countries of birth. Arabic translation covers civil records, business licenses and court papers, and an Arabic interpreter is matched to the client’s country, so tell us which one when you book.
Next in line are Vietnamese translation and the Vietnamese interpreter booking, followed by Hindi, Bengali and Chinese. Where no interpreter is within reach of Memphis, we run the session by video remote interpreting.
Diploma Translation for University of Memphis Applicants
The University of Memphis enrolled 2,404 international students in 2024-25 and Christian Brothers University 840, according to Open Doors, making them the second and fourth largest hosts in Tennessee. Across the state, India sent 25.9 percent of international students and China 15.8 percent. Applicants, transfer students and graduates seeking licenses need diploma translation and academic transcript translation that an evaluator can check line by line.
