English-only households are now a minority in Hollywood. In the Census Bureau’s 2020-2024 estimates, 47.9 percent of residents aged five and over speak only English at home and 38.1 percent speak Spanish, with French or Haitian Creole at 4.8 percent and Russian, Polish or another Slavic language at 3.0 percent. Roughly 62,300 residents, 39 percent of the city, were born abroad, led by Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Haiti and Jamaica.Hollywood is Broward’s third-largest city, with 153,067 people at the 2020 census, and it shares Port Everglades with Fort Lauderdale and Dania Beach. That puts hospital, court and commercial work on the same short list of addresses, and most of our Hollywood bookings fall on one of them.

Medical Interpreters for Memorial Regional Hospital
Memorial Regional Hospital at 3501 Johnson Street is the flagship of Memorial Healthcare System: a 797-bed public hospital with a Level I trauma center and institutes for cardiac and vascular care, cancer and neuroscience. Memorial Regional Hospital South, on Washington Street, is the system’s second Hollywood hospital. The system keeps a roster of employees who speak other languages and an over-the-phone interpreting service, which is how most short exchanges are handled.
Trauma and cancer care produce the conversations a phone cannot carry well: a family conference after a crash, a treatment plan explained over an hour, consent for surgery with relatives in the room. Families, attorneys and outpatient practices book an interpreter for those; we also translate discharge papers and records for a patient moving between providers. See medical interpreting and medical records translation.Pediatric Interpreters at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital
Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital stands across the street from Memorial Regional, joined to it by a skyway for transfers to its Level IV neonatal intensive care unit, the highest NICU level. A baby in that unit can stay for weeks, and the parents go through daily rounds, feeding plans, equipment training and a discharge teaching session that has to be understood the first time.
For a Spanish, Creole or Russian-speaking family, one interpreter who returns for each of those meetings keeps the terminology and the relationship consistent. Language assistance from the hospital is free under 45 CFR 92.201; outside interpreters are booked by families or care teams when continuity matters more than speed. See translation for healthcare.
Court Interpreters at the South Regional Courthouse
Broward’s South Regional Courthouse is on Hollywood Boulevard at number 3550. It hears traffic, misdemeanor and county civil cases and handles circuit civil and probate filings, passport applications and marriage license applications; felony trials, family cases and foreclosures are at the central courthouse, 201 SE 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale. The Seventeenth Circuit’s staff interpreters cover Spanish and Haitian Creole for the proceedings its rules list, and need a week’s notice for other languages.
Evictions and small claims are county civil matters, outside most of the categories the circuit lists, so parties and their attorneys often arrange their own interpreter for preparation and settlement talks. For depositions and exhibits, see court interpreting and legal translation. If the marriage clerk asks for a foreign divorce decree in English, divorce decree translation covers it.
Russian and Ukrainian Translation in Hollywood
About 4,400 Hollywood residents speak a Slavic language at home. Russian translation is the larger stream: birth and marriage records from the former Soviet republics, pension and property papers, medical files for patients seeing Broward specialists. Soviet-era certificates are often bilingual or in Russian even when issued in Ukraine, Belarus or Central Asia, so we read the document before choosing between Russian and Ukrainian translation.
Name spelling is the recurring issue. A surname transliterated one way in an old passport and another way on a Florida driver’s license needs to be matched deliberately, and we follow the spelling the client has used on US documents, noting the source form. A Russian interpreter is available for hospital and court appointments.
Spanish Translation for Hollywood Families
Cuban and Colombian records lead the Spanish work, with Venezuelan, Dominican and Peruvian documents close behind. Spanish translation for these covers civil registry certificates, apostilles, notarial deeds and school records, each translated in full including stamps and handwritten notes. For hearings and medical visits, a Spanish interpreter is chosen with the speaker’s country in mind.
Port Everglades adds a commercial stream: contracts, invoices and correspondence for companies moving cargo and passengers through the port, which handled about 1.17 million containers (TEUs) in fiscal 2025. That work runs under business translation, quoted by the word.
USCIS Translation for Hollywood Residents
Hollywood ZIP codes are split between two USCIS field offices. In the USCIS ZIP code file, seven of them (33019 through 33023, 33081 and 33083) go to the Oakland Park field office, 4451 NW 31st Avenue, and six (33024 through 33027, 33029 and 33084) go to the Hialeah field office, 5880 NW 183rd Street. The interview notice confirms the office; asylum interviews are at the Miami Asylum Office. For a Hollywood file headed there, every page not in English is translated in full and certified by the translator, the standard set by 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3). Haitian files usually mean French-language records, so a Haitian Creole translation order may be handled by a translator who works from French.
Short civil certificates carry a guide price from around $24.95 a page, and a fixed quote comes back within 60 minutes in business hours. See USCIS translation and birth certificate translation.
