Court Interpreters for the Second Judicial District Court

Bernalillo County’s district court, the Second Judicial District Court, sits at 400 Lomas Boulevard NW, with its Children’s Court at 5100 2nd Street NW. Across the street, the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court at 401 Lomas Boulevard NW takes misdemeanors, traffic, landlord-tenant and small civil cases, and federal matters go to the Pete V. Domenici United States Courthouse at 333 Lomas Boulevard NW. That one stretch of road covers most of the legal work in the county.

Bernalillo’s July 2025 language access plan records that interpreters are provided at no cost to parties and witnesses, that a request must be made in writing, and that the court keeps two full-time Spanish interpreters on staff while a supervisor schedules certified interpreters for everything else. Navajo Interpreters and Translation in Albuquerque

Navajo is the third most requested court language in New Mexico and the second most spoken language at home in Bernalillo County after Spanish, at 0.93 percent of residents in the Modern Language Association figures the district court cites. The Migration Policy Institute counts about 800 Navajo speakers in the county who are classed as limited English proficient. The court posts its interpreter-rights signs in English, Spanish, Navajo and Vietnamese, and prints its juror questionnaire in Navajo.

Medical Interpreters for UNM Hospital

University of New Mexico Hospital is the state’s only Level I trauma center and houses its only children’s hospital, with 618 beds. UNM Health offers free interpreters around the clock in more than 200 languages, and a 2025 report from the Health Sciences Center described about 26 Spanish interpreters on rotation, with an outside vendor covering other languages by phone and video. Presbyterian Hospital and the VA Medical Center are the other large inpatient settings in the city.

Spanish and Vietnamese Translation in Albuquerque

The Metropolitan Court already publishes its landlord-tenant forms in Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese and Arabic, which is a fair map of the written demand.
