Slovenian Interpreter

About 171,600 Americans reported Slovene ancestry in 2024, and roughly three quarters of them live in six states, Ohio far ahead with around 80,000. Slovenian Interpreter or Croatian Interpreter

The second question is region. The Slovenian of Ljubljana, of Prekmurje in the northeast and of Primorska on the coast sound noticeably different, and an interpreter who knows in advance where the speaker grew up, and roughly when, does markedly better than one who walks in cold. Pass that on when you book.

Hospitals, memory clinics and hospices call us about a patient in their eighties whose English has receded with a stroke or dementia and who is answering nurses in Slovenian. That Slovenian-speaking patient is owed an interpreter at no cost by any provider on federal funds, and the grandchild with a few words of the language is not a substitute.

Slovenian Court Interpreter for Probate, Guardianship and Depositions

Slovenian comes before American courts through guardianship petitions for elderly emigrants, probate matters that reach back to property or heirs in Slovenia, and commercial disputes where a witness at a Slovenian supplier testifies by video from Ljubljana. No state certifies court interpreters in Slovenian. California lists Slovenian among the languages in which it registers court interpreters; elsewhere, and in federal court, the judge qualifies the interpreter on the record.

Slovenian Interpreter at USCIS Interviews

A spouse at a marriage-based adjustment interview, or a long-term resident sitting for naturalization, accounts for most Slovenian USCIS bookings. Where the applicant qualifies for the 50/20 or 55/15 English exemption, the civics test can be taken in Slovenian with an interpreter fluent in both languages present.
